F.A.Q.s
What are your favorite mediums to work with?
Definitely oils and acrylics (Gamblin & Golden are brands I love), preferably paired with some kind of textured medium (ditto on the brands, plus so many others!) and a drawing medium (R&F Oil Paint Sticks or Derwent Inktense Blocks are some of my favorites).
Do you have prints or work on sale?
I don’t generally do prints, though there have been exceptions. Since my work has a lot of texture and many pieces have pops of metallic paint, those elements don’t tend to translate well in a print. Occasionally I will run sales or specials. Keep an eye out for my teaching demos. These are pieces I created as an example for a class or workshop I was teaching and I mark down the prices on those significantly.
Do you frame your art?
Not usually actually. I typically work on a gallery wrapped canvas and I wrap my painting around to the sides of the canvas so that there’s not a direct “need” for framing for my works on canvas, which saves framing costs for the buyer! I don’t do as many works on paper, but those do need to be framed--my preference is with a clean white mat and a thin simple frame.
Where can I see your art in person?
I’ve displayed my work around the Ann Arbor area the past few years, but it varies season-to-season. I’ve had my work at The Ann Arbor Art Center, Riverside Arts Center, the Gutman Gallery, and various coffee shops, salons, etc. I’m happy to accommodate a studio visit for someone looking to purchase. Contact me to find out where you can find my art locally or to make an appointment for a studio visit.
How do I know when new art is available for sale?
Sign up here to receive quarterly emails about my latest work and other studio updates!
Where are you located?
My studio is in Ypsilanti, Michigan, located just outside of Ann Arbor.
How does purchasing and shipping work?
You can find my available work for sale through my online shop. Shipping will automatically calculate depending on the size of the painting you are purchasing and the recipient shipping location.
I saw a painting on social media that is not in your shop, can I still buy it?
Hmm...it depends! It’s possible it’s a commission for someone else, it’s going in an art exhibition, or I just haven’t listed it yet! Contact me (either via email paytonfineart@gmail.com or DM on socials) to let me know which piece you saw.
